20 weeks

My SIL, Kim came with me to this appointment so she could experience the sonogram; she had never seen it before. I am sure a singleton is overwhelming enough, much less triplets. I was glad she got to see it; it is a much different experience seeing them in action versus just looking at the pictures.

All is going well with the babies. Their heartbeats and the fluid all look great! We watched for a little while as they kicked, pushed and hit each other. Baby C (girl) was very feisty today, doing most of the kicking. She is stretched out on my left side closest to the top (the penthouse as Koster calls it), baby B is stretched out on my right side and baby A is taking over the bottom. I think he is holding down the fort down there to be sure and come out first. :)

My cervix looks great. When Koster performed the internal cervical check, we had a nice surprise...we noticed something different...I guess our boy wanted to say hi again. We first noticed his head, then we saw his hand. It was like he was waving at us. :) It was so cute to see him through the cervical check. We weren't expecting that because we haven't seen any of them internally in a long time.

Sorry I don't have any pictures of the babies this appointment since it was technically just a cervical check. I'll have more in a few weeks if not sooner. I do, however, have my belly shot!

Our first shower

Our first shower

Last Saturday, we had our first shower. I sorry I am a little behind with my posts. We borrowed a camera since our camera needs a new battery, and I had to get the pictures before I could post. Besides that, it has been a pretty busy week!

Our shower was wonderful! A BIG thanks to Christi, Jennifer and Lisa who hosted it. You guys did a great job! We appreciate you so much! Also, thanks to everyone who came and for all the cute gifts. We really enjoyed visiting with everyone.

19 weeks and counting

I've still been having pretty consistent back pain, so I decided to try to get comfortable on the floor with Lacy while watching the Sunday afternoon Cowboys game. Isn't she cute? She's just a big baby and loves to cuddle. Actually, she looks a little depressed; I think it was because of that poor game with the Patriots. :) They've done great all season with their undefeated record, winning against the Bears (sorry Joy) and even Buffalo (don't know how they managed to win that game).

I know you guys don't want to hear me ramble on about the Cowboys... how about a weekly belly shot? I am still not feeling them kicking or anything. Koster said that typically starts when they are about a pound.

My 19 week appointment went well. The babies are doing great! Koster thinks they are a good size for their age and she commented on their length. She said they look long, like they are going to be tall. They must be getting their height from their daddy at 6'1" because I definitely am not contributing to it at 5'4".

The babies weight has pretty much doubled since my last appointment with Koster three weeks ago.
Baby A (boy) 11 ounces
Baby B (girl) 10 ounces
Baby C (girl) 10 ounces

My cervix is doing great--long and strong and closed. If I remember correctly, it is longer than it was at the last visit.

The heartbeats were still all pretty close to one another. Surprisingly, the boy's (poor boy needs a name) heartbeat was fastest at 150. The two girls were at 147 and 140. Koster double checked to make sure they were still indeed the same sex and luckily they were. Our girls were not being too modest during the sono yesterday. It was so funny! So, no sex changes yet and hopefully never! LOL

Speaking of names... we have one girl name picked out, but I am not going to tell you yet until we have picked out all of them. ha ha Yes, I know some of you already know what it is.

Here is baby A, he is posing ever so well as usual.

I think baby girl B posed the best this time...usually "the boy" is the most cooperative. Hopefully this is a sign our girls won't be such a hand full. :) :)

Check out baby C in this shot, she looks freaky. The way she is looking straight at us... its the alien baby! j/k I am not a bad mom for saying she looks freaky, its just a joke. You have to admit, she looks scary. She would not hardly cooperate at all this time. Maybe she is getting ready for Halloween!

On another note, Craig brought home some flowers for me the other night. He brought home a bouquet of mixed flowers and roses for me and a separate set of roses - 3 red roses and 1 white rose to represent all of our babies, living and not living. It was so sweet, I wanted to share it with you.

We got our last piece of furniture for the nursery today- the dresser and I am so happy with how well it matches. We were afraid we weren't going to be able to find something to match very closely, but this dresser matches so well, it looks like a set. And it doesn't look bad at all in front of the window. I would rather it be against a wall, but it doesn't look bad. I can still see out the window, so it doesn't look too much like a prison even with all the bars on the cribs. :)

We have our first shower this weekend. I'll post some pictures soon.

18 week update

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and everything looks good. She measured my belly for the first time and said that I am measuring perfectly for triplets at 18 weeks. All of you (myself included) who said I look small can rest assured that my size is perfect.

I thought you might like to see a frontal view for a change. Isn't my fly away hair lovely? :)

The babies are all measuring about the same--a little over 18 weeks. The baby boy is just a little bit bigger than the baby girls. Their heart rates are great and their measurements are great.

Baby girl B is kind of hard to make out in this shot.

Baby girl C has changed positions to the fetal position.

An update on me... my blood pressure is still good. It is a little higher than it was before, but it is still very good. My back pain is increasing again, so my doctor wants me to wear the support belt for 2 weeks and see if it helps before starting physical therapy.

My cervix is a little shorter, which is normal, but is definitely closed. It is still plenty long, just not as long before. Starting this week, I will be having weekly appointments from here on out! It seems like that is practically what I have been doing already...well, mostly every 2 weeks except when I have had complications, I would go more regularly. I am fine with that...better safe than sorry.

I need to come up with a fun little song to sing in my head to go along with the beat of my pounding heart. LOL! I have been hearing it in my ear for several weeks now, but it was just occasionally; now it is pretty much constant. I believe with triplets, the increase in blood flow is 100%, so my heart is working really hard.

I had to postpone my root canal because I got sick last week, but I still have to get it done. It will probably be next week some time. Me and the babies would appreciate your prayers that it will be a painless and stress-free experience. :)

The nursery... We got the cribs assembled this week and I have been buying accessories and working on hanging them on the walls. Some of you have asked to see pictures of the nursery with the cribs in it, so here ya go. We don't have the dresser yet, which will unfortunately go in front of the window....there is no where else to put it. I wanted to put all the cribs on one wall, but that isn't going to work due space constraints. The nursery is practically going to be or already is wall-to-wall furniture, but we will make it work. :)

The closet doors are just to the right of this picture and the dresser will go in front of the window to the left of this picture.

As you can probably see, the door to the room is on the left, so that cuts into a lot of the wall space. I thought about turning all the cribs long ways to give more wall space but that just reduces the amount of floor space.

This is a tiny wall space between the closet doors and the door to the room. I was planning to just use the top of the dresser as a changing table, but this changing table was given to us and the extra storage below will help. I really like the changing table, but it does take up space...who knows, it may not even stay in this room.

Just been sick all week...

I don't have much new to report with me except that I've been sick with a cold or something all week. I don't know if it was an allergy attack (I know the ragweed is real high), sinuses, a head cold or a combination. I started feeling bad on Sunday and it progressively got worse. I called my doctor Monday, and thankfully they called me in a z-pack without me having to go in. I am feeling better, but some of it is still lingering. Thank goodness I am better for the most part because I would hate to be sick this weekend with my brother's wedding and my sister and her family being in town from Pennsylvania.

I have already been cooped up way too much with the placenta problems and now being sick with this cold. I know I am going to go absolutely insane when I am on strict bed rest and can't even get up out of bed or off the couch. You guys are going to have to come visit me. There is only so much reading and TV watching I can do. So, here is your official invitation to come by and visit. Please don't wait for me to ask because I probably won't. :) Just come over...well call first of course. :)

Our cribs came in, but we haven't assembled them yet. Maybe this weekend. Oh and I had to reschedule my root canal because of the cold I have been fighting all week. Please pray for me and the babies because we are still very nervous about the procedure.

Here is my weekly belly shot. It seems like it isn't growing as much as I thought it would be. It has looked about the same for the past several weeks. Or maybe it is just because I see it all the time, so I don't notice the subtle changes.
