Nothin much...just a few updates

Hey guys! Its been a little while since I last posted; I don't have a whole lot to report. I am still doing about the same...feeling decent, no vomiting, just hungry, tired and overwhelmed.

I finished the Summer semester of school last week, completing 9 more hours, so that was another huge sense of accomplishment. I have decided not to take any classes this Fall to avoid possibly not being able to finish due to bedrest or any other complications. I am lacking 18 hours before I will be finished, but I guess if it is in God's plans for me to finish, I will finish.

I have my weekly belly shot for you to see. It probably doesn't look too much different from the previous one. It's funny...some days I feel like I have grown a ton; other days, I feel like I am not growing at all. It has taken me a few days to get this post out, so you will be seeing another belly shot plus more sono pictures on Thursday or Friday (if I don't get them posted right away). My next sono appointment is Thursday.

9 weeks

We went mini van shopping this weekend. We looked at several, and were most interested in the Dodge Grand Caravan for its size and storage capacity. We test drove a Caravan home for the weekend. We liked it a lot except for a few things, but I think almost every car is going to have something about it you don't like. The dealership is offering a really good price on this particular van, and we were tempted to jump on the deal, but decided to wait like we had originally planned. We didn't want to buy anything too soon; we will wait until some time in the second trimester before we start making major purchases.

We also went window shopping for baby furniture and strollers. It is a shame more stores don't have at least some kind of triple stroller in their store for people to look at and test it out. I am not a big fan of buying things online without first being able to see them and check them out in person. I am having some mixed thoughts about the stroller right now. I thought it would be a must, but I am hearing from other people that they hardly ever used theirs because they didn't get out much with triplets, or that their triple stroller was too heavy to push with three kids in it. M.O.M.'s, what are your thoughts?

I am going to go with a friend to a M.O.M.'s meeting this week so I am sure that will be a good way to meet other M.O.M.'s, get plugged in and get a few pointers from them so I won't be so clueless.

Craig finished putting the gazebo up on the patio yesterday. It has taken a while because he had to extend the patio a little first. Plus, this heat is murder to work in. But, we finally got it up and it looks so nice. It will be so nice to be able to sit outside without the sun beating down on us. I've taken a picture so you guys can see my hubby's hard work and see how much nicer it looks.

Well, that is about all I know for now. I'll post again later this week.

Hi Amy,
I've got 2 year old triplets and 1 year old twins. When my trio was first born, I actually didn't have a triplet stroller for them. I had a double one and a single one. I felt like when I went out in public, the attention I drew to myself with the three kiddos was so intense, that having them broken up lessened this issue a bit. I also sometimes would have one in a sling/carrier and push the other two in the stroller, that was convenient for quick trips. I think the best strollers are the Triple Decker, which all three carseats just snap into, but this can only be used for as long as the kiddos are in infant carseats. There is also the Peg Perego stroller. I think this is the cadillac of triplet strollers...It's beautiful to look at, a dream to push, and absolutely lovely for the kiddos to sit in... It's a dream, but quite pricey. There are a few more to choose from... I have the Runabout, which is quite the stroller, it's a very industrial looking stroller, but serves the kiddos really well. It allows them to ride until they're really big, and it's easy to push... But it's quite UGLY. :) It's all in what you're looking for.
Feel free to email me anytime, I'll happily help with any questions you have about triplet-hood, and the fun that surrounds it!!
Congrats to you!

Hi Amy,

Thought I would also chime in about the stroller question. We have the triple decker stroller which our Graco carseats snapped into. Once they outgrow those carseats, they do sell toddler seats that snap into the frame, although not as securely as the carseats did. My husband put some extra supports and brackets onto the frame for the toddler seats so that we felt more secure when the girls were in it. The frame for the triple decker stroller folds in half and fits into the back of our Tahoe nicely. I agree with Jessica's comments, that any triple stroller creates alot of attention when you are out in public. I dislike all of the attention and my husband loves it...go figure! The one advantage to having a triplet stroller is that on the trips I am by myself (although not that often), I can haul the kids on my own. I also used it a ton just going for walks in the neighborhood. We also have a double stroller and a single stroller that we often use if I have someone with me on outings. As Jessica said, it's nice to avoid some attention if possible and it's easier to manuever through places. Now that the girls are walking, I can take them somewhere by myself with 2 in the stroller and one walking or being carried.
The one thing I did not like about the Peg Pereggo and the Runabout was that not all of the seats reclined like I wanted them to. This was an issue for me when the girls were newborns. The seats just weren't as comfortable for infants...and mine were very little when they came home. But that only lasts for a short time and then, I'm sure those strollers are great. I believe you need a car carrier for the back of your car to transport the Runabout.
Anyway, your belly looks like it has grown a little bit and I am glad to hear that you are not having any morning sickness!

Hi, the patio gazebo turned out really nice. Wish I had something like that to sit under while my kiddos play out back.

Your growing belly looks GREAT! I'm watching for the next picture. :)

Looks like you ladies have some great input on the stroller topic. My input is third party, incomplete and quite similar to what has already been said.
